UPPER PRIMARY SIX
This detailed curriculum seeks to provide students with an overall PSLE coverage to improve their PSLE Chinese Language performance. Constant revision and application of examination techniques for listening, oral, composition, comprehension, correct usage of vocabulary and sentence structure will be identified, analysed, evaluated and solved continuously.
PRIMARY 6 LEARNING OUTCOMES
Language Use and Mastery
- Able to understand and use vocabulary in relation to pronounciation, form and meaning.
- Able to effectively use vocabulary and sentence structure in verbal and written tasks.
- Identify collocation for each vocabulary.
Oral Communications
- Listen, read and respond to questions with appropriate vocabulary and sentence structure.
- Able to use vocabulary and varied sentence structures to describe scenarios in detail.
- Able to express viewpoints on a subject matter through knowledge of vocabulary.
- Exposure to potential topics and key ways to score in the new exam format.
- Use techniques learnt to organise thoughts to convey logical and coherent response.
Composition Writing
- Identify, analyse, evaluate and solve themed based questions and lessons learnt.
- Apply effective vocabulary, sentence structure and descriptive phrases to complete a well-planned story or write in accordance to given questions, topics or scenarios.
Reading Comprehension
- Identify, analyse and respond to situation provided through keywords.
- Apply specific strategies to read passage, perform precise comparisons and make accurate inferences.
- Use keywords to efficiently analyse different question types: direct, inferential, analysis, comparison and critique.
- Apply proper answering techniques for PSLE-standard question requirements.
Vocabulary
- Memorize new words, differentiate words with similar forms, meanings and pronounciations.
- Categorise and match words to form specific phrases, including synonyms, antonyms and applying them to verbal and written work effectively.
- Recognize and retain the set list of vocabulary based on the MOE syllabus and master key words and phrases to apply in oral and composition exams.
